It’s difficult to determine which small business ideas are the right ones for you. Being a woman entrepreneur is very frequent these days. As well as anyone who’s trying to get new business from scratch.
It’s very common that tons of ideas come to our minds. But, in the end, we never materialize any of them. This often happens because women entrepreneurs sometimes are so used to cover everything, that they tend to ramble a bit.
But luckily for all those empowered women, who want to start working for themselves, there are a couple of simple questions that guides them to their desires.
So, if you want to start a business or to work from home, ask yourself the following questions.
What’s your motivation for your business ideas?
Women entrepreneurs do not necessarily see money as the first reason to start a new business. There are many other reasons that can be moving them to this new venture. Depending on that, you can more or less, establish what kind of business or side business ideas are for you:
- Earning some extra money
If you don’t need a whole personal business, but only something extra, affiliate programs, selling other’s products or even an ecommerce store may be the right fit for you.
- Quitting your job
If you want to quit your job and start from scratch, using your own skills sets is a good idea. If you’re good at make-up, at writing, at baking or something like this, that’s the way to go.
There is always a need for a graphic designer, cleaning services, a personal trainer or writing an interesting blog post.
- Personal satisfaction and social change
If money is not what really concerns you, then volunteering or starting a non-profit foundation could be an excellent business idea for you. Through word of mouth it can be spread very fast and build up something valuable for the world.
If you are determined to be your own boss, then you’ll have to consider the next questions very thoroughly.
These three points are very determining as you need to know what you can easily do, what you could gladly learn and what you need a hand for.
1.What are your strengths?
It’s important to know what you’re already good at or at least has a decent experience of doing.
Whether you have a determined career or only a hobby, it probably can be exploited today thanks to the internet.
As we mentioned before, online stores, courses and tutorials sell really good. If you have a blog, you can also sell your own products there too, such as homemade soap, candles, essential oils, etc. Until the customer service is taken good care of, even something as folding napkins can be salable these days.
If you’re not sure of your talents, ask your relatives or in worst case scenario invest a bit in going to a vocational therapist.
2.What are your likes?
Maybe there are some things that you can’t still sell but could easily learn. This is ideal for a second job.
If you have some experience in bed and breakfast, you can start building your own client base and offering them traveling guides, travel tips, where to visit interesting places, etc.
In United States lawn care has a high demand. You can even study real estates, and become a property manager.
Do you like the health and wellness area? You can always become a massage therapist or a business mastermind retreat facilitator.
There are tons of new careers that can be easily and quickly learned online these days, even without a big investment.
3.What are your weaknesses?
Finally, when starting any of the business ideas, there will be some things you’ll have to delegate. You must be practical and acknowledge where you need a hand, so you won’t waste your time so much. That time which you could spend doing what you need, like to simply reading a book.
Hire a bookkeeper or a virtual assistant. It will save you a lot of time and definitely money on the long-term.
It doesn’t matter what kind of business or industry you want to get in. The most important thing is to learn to solve an existing problem that other people have, and show them that what you have is worth spending their money on.
That implicates a lot of discipline, motivation, persuasion and passion from your side. Having something of your own is beautiful, after fighting to build it up. But, as the grandmother of Spider-Man says: ”With great power comes great responsibility.” That means, as more your business and your success grows, it will grow also your work flow and problem solving situations.
